There are a million things that inspire me daily. Today, while browsing through Volcom’s website, I came across this film from 2017. It highlights the different passions of a few athletes and artists, and the struggles they have overcome in order to get to where they are today. My key thought here is that everybody has that one outlet that they go to to progress. Whether that’s skiing, cooking, drawing, we all have unique talents- and that is what makes mankind so awesome. Without these individual differences, we would be one bland race. There would be nothing to talk about, and nothing to inspire.
Art has always been a passion of mine. Since I was a yung’n I have been enrolled in art classes, messing around with cameras, and doodling on just about any piece of paper I receive; the more boring the content of the paper, the bigger and more elaborate the doodle. Interesting how that works, huh?
I remember sitting in my high school calculus class, junior year. I went into the doodle vortex, but apparently so intensely, that I came to with my teacher, Miss Melucci, saying “It’s like she’s in her own little world…” and the entire class staring at me. Whoah. How long was I in there for? The doodle looked sweet.
Point being - sometimes things will come innately to you. They may take a little poking and prodding to get in the groove, and will likely come and go throughout your lifespan, but aren’t we lucky to have these passions? Imagine a world where nothing fills your soul with joy. As Kelly Slater simply states in this video, “If your mind is not switched on, and excited about things, I think life’s over at that point.” Stay stoked, stay inspired, and always keep love in your heart! Everything else is a waste of energy. You are awesome!
